Hi everybody: The first issue of The Friday Letter in January 2009 went to 8 people on my email list. As we enter 2021 we are finding that a weekly report isn’t enough to inform our readers about the stories they probably missed while pursuing their busy lives. And so, we began writing an occasional Tuesday Morning extra, and that has now morphed into this, tentatively called “In the news . . .” because this forum at Substack will initially only include summaries and links to stories from the world’s press, not the political commentary I write on The Friday Letter.
Currently we scour the news in search of stories about threats to our national sovereignty, civil liberties, and the ability of our fellow citizens to feed their families. We are concerned about the growing threat of China, the failure of our government to protect our national borders, and the unbridled brazen attacks on the First, Second, Fifth and 14th Amendments to the Constitution.
Our aim is to present the stories factually as reported. Are we biased? Of course we are, by our story selection — stories often overlooked or intentionally ignored by the mainstream press. And, you may detect without much effort, our often facetious sense of humor as we ridicule the absurd. (But we are never snarky unless forced into a bad humor.)
Some day we will figure how to make money on this enterprise. For now it’s free, as is The Friday Letter, posted each week at The News-Guardian.
Our first Substack missive will post on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Send an email to steve@combsmedia.us for a free subscription to “In the news . . .” at Substack, The Friday Letter, or both. The Friday Letter also has a link most weeks to my YouTube video.
NOTE: We took the liberty to add a few names from The Friday Letter subscription list to this for the initial post. Please Unsubscribe if this doesn’t interest you. We won’t be offended (but don’t expect to have your name put into the drawing for the 2021 Porsche Panamera).
