The Friday Letter / No. 545 / June 16, 2023
Just in case Donald Trump gets elected president for a third time, Eric Holder wants to make sure he governs from prison during his upcoming impeachment trial. You remember Eric. He was Obama's attorney general who sold weapons to the Mexican drug cartels, which used them to murder Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in the botched 2012 Fast and Furious operation.
Congress held Eric in contempt when he refused to turn over documents that could have shed light on the operation and his role in it. He was never indicted, in fact remains free and, according to some, is one of the Biden Administration's puppeteers.
Politico reported Holder's contempt citation in this 2012 story.
“No one is above the law” is the big joke that the Media/Democrats repeat over and over, Jack Hellner writes at the American Thinker. He places Holder on a list of 59 people “ who have essentially been above the law, no matter how many lies they tell under oath or how many crimes they commit.”
The list includes the 51 former intelligence officials “who vouched for a fictitious document to elect a corrupt Democrat.” The others:
Hillary Clinton, Lois Lerner, James Clapper, Adam Schiff, Andrew McCade, James Comey, and of course the Big Guy, Joey Biden.
We're not sure why John Brennan didn't make the list.
“No matter how often you lie or commit other crimes, the complicit media will hire you as long as you target Republicans and repeat the talking points to push the radical leftist agenda,” Hellner says. “But if you are a Republican who wants to drain the swamp, question an election, or dare ask that foreign officials investigate the corrupt Biden family, you will be impeached and investigated endlessly in search of a crime.”
The meaning of words
As they consider their choice for the presidential nomination, Republican voters might pay attention to the words they hear, and not let them slide by casually. They should also carefully consider a candidate's judgment. To wit:
Words in the Slick Willy tradition. Sen. Tim Scott, South Carolina, made a statement about Trump's lawsuits claiming 2020 election fraud in several states, reported recently at Just the News, that is at once both factual and misleading. In these states, Scott claims, no court had “found evidence indicating the election results in those states should be overturned.”
Of course they found no evidence. They didn't look for it. Just because both the Pennsylvania and U.S. Supreme Courts refused to review the obvious, incontestable evidence that Pennsylvania violated its own election law doesn't make the evidence less valid. Failure to see a crime doesn't mean the crime didn't occur.
Judgment, poor, the lack thereof. Vivek Ramaswamy's claim that there was no election fraud in 2020 makes his judgment questionable, in my view. Now he says if elected he will allow transvestites and others inflicted with sexual dysphoria to serve in the military. When did our government schools stop teaching that the military is not a social services agency or psychiatric ward, but a collection of fierce men and machines capable of inflicting violence on those who threaten us?
Short takes on the news
The Blaze
When is Parliament going to pass “common sense” automobile and kitchen knife laws and ban them? It's about time. A West African man with long-term permission to live in the UK was arrested in Nottingham for stabbing three people to death and then mowing down three others with a van he had stolen.
The Blaze
Thank you, government schools, or, Lady, your ignorance is showing. A black actress in the Broadway musical Hamilton called Ron DeSantis the Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan during her acceptance speech for a Tony Award. DeSantis is a Republican. (You already knew that.) DeSantis doesn't like the idea of choosing winners and losers by their race. (You knew that also.) The actress, whose name is not important, apparently missed school the day her high school civics class covered the Klan's founding as an affiliate of her party – that would be the Democrat Party.
Just the News
Shoe on the Other Foot Department. Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin fumes that the FBI illegally spied on 278,000 Americans, including 19,000 Democrat donors. Under Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), the FBI and other US intelligence agencies are authorized to spy only on “non-US persons, located abroad, who are expected to possess, receive, or communicate foreign intelligence information,” the Office of the Director of National Intelligence states. . . .
Hamtramck, Mich.'s, all-Muslim city council unanimously votes to prohibit flags that represent “any religious, ethnic, racial, political, or sexual orientation” to be flown on public property. Allowing minority groups to fly flags would “open the door for radical or racist groups,” the council explained, with radical homosexual groups in mind. Says Just the News, only the American and Michigan state flags, the Hamtramck flag, the Prisoner of War flag and flags of other nations will be welcomed on public property.
Breitbart
The White House employs a contributor to one of its media partners, The Hill, to write propaganda disputing the FBI informant who said a Ukrainian oligarch paid a $5 million bribe to Joe Biden. Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky says he has 17 audio recordings of the conversations which he kept as “an insurance policy.”
Quotes for today
“Too much has happened since 2020 for a steady, dependable, boring daddy figure to try to lead either the Republican Party or our nation. We tried that with Romney, and look how that turned out. I want an arsonist, an iconoclast, a marauding Godzilla who crushes D.C. under his heel and scatters the ashes of the FBI, the Department of Justice, the lying media, the DNC, and every other entity that has been working from within to bring down our country. That is not Mike Pence.” – Jane Guenther Parent at American Greatness
